Vivida Cream

Like Vivida supplements, Vivida Cream appears to be very effective at bringing about improvements to damaged skin, especially with regards to skin thickness and elasticity, though the mechanisms through which it works are not well-understood.

Clinical Studies

The effect of Vivida cream as compared with placebo cream in the treatment of sun-damaged or age-damaged facial skin.

Products

1% Vivida Cream

Trial Design

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled

Duration

120 days of treatment

Subjects

30 women aged 40-60 years, of Fitzpatrick skin type II or III, and with moderate to severe sun- or biologically-damaged facial skin.

Regimen

Subjects applied the active cream on one side of the face and the placebo cream on the other side of the face, twice daily.

Methods of Assessment

Clinical evaluation of the thinning of the skin, laxity, wrinkles, mottles, dryness and telangiectasias.

Comparsion of photographs of the treated areas taken at baseline and after 120 days.

Measurement of the thickness of the epidermis and dermis 2 cm laterally from the eyes using Dermascan C.

Measurement of the elasticity index of the skin from the cheeks using Dermaflex A.

Side Effects

No adverse reactions were observed or reported.

Conflicts of Interest

None declared.

Effects observed in this study:

Before treatment, all of the patients had large numbers of shallow (<1 mm depth) wrinkles on both sides of the face, and the majority also had moderately deep (1 mm) or deep (>1 mm) wrinkles. After treatment, there was no change compared to baseline for the side of the face treated with the placebo cream, but on the side treated with Vivida cream, all shallow wrinkles were no longer apparent, only 3 subjects (10%) had a few moderately deep wrinkles left, and the majority had only a few deep wrinkles remaining. The difference between the effect of the Vivida cream and that of the placebo cream was highly significant.

Vivida cream was also significantly more effective than the placebo cream at improving mottles, telangiectasias and skin dryness. Moreover, scanner measurements revealed that epidermal thickness rose from 0.13 mm to 0.29 mm (123% increase) and dermal thickness from 0.91 mm to 1.29 mm (42% increase) on the Vivida-treated side of the face, whereas only minimal changes were observed on the placebo-treated side. Similarly, the mean elasticity index increased from 50% to 69% on the Vivida-treated side, compared to an increase from 49% to 50% on the placebo-treated side.

Overall, the clinical effects were very dramatic for the first 4 weeks and continued to improve for a further 8 weeks, but tapered off after the first 3 months.
