Sodium ascorbate is the sodium salt of ascorbic acid, or vitamin C (R).
Sodium ascorbate has been shown to facilitate entry into the skin at much lower concentrations compared to ascorbic acid, which in turn allows active ascorbic acid to enter skin cells (R).
