Vanilla × tahitensis is a hybrid orchid cultivated commercially to produce vanilla, a flavouring recovered from the cured beans (R, R). Vanilla tahitensis extract is an active ingredient obtained from the extraction of mature tahitian vanilla pods using water and propylene glycol (R). It is rich in polyphenols and purportedly possesses many medicinal properties (R).
