Fucose-rich polysaccharides can be isolated from brown seaweed (R) and bacteria (R),
A cosmetic formulation containing a fucose-rich polysaccharide called FucoPol remained stable when kept at 4°C, 20°C and 30°C for 2 months (R).
Fucoidan, a fucose-rich polysaccharide from brown algae, has been shown to penetrate rat skin, leading to increases in its concentration in the plasma and muscle tissue, though a significant amount was retained in the skin for several hours after application. However, studies on human skin are still needed (R).
